Median Domain Sale Prices Increased In 1Q-2010 But Total Dollar Volume Was Down

An analysis of domain sales reported to us in the 1st quarter of 2010 showed that total dollar volume was down 18% from the same quarter a year ago, however the entire year over year difference can be attributed to three big sales made in 1Q-2009. On the bright side the median sale price topped both the previous quarter & 1Q-2009.

Domain sales results from the just concluded 2nd quarter of 2009 are in and they aren’t pretty. The total dollar volume of sales reported to us in 2Q-2009 fell 25% from the previous quarter. A big part of the decline came from a pullback at the ultra high end of the market. Median prices were down less than 5%.
